So what is the weak link in a 2001 cobra?, the rods?, we have forged cranks right? If its rods can they be shot peened and polished like old school?
Rods and then pistons. Coyote rods are definitely the cheapest and easiest route. I don't think anyone would reuse the stock pistons.

I would say no. And that would be a waste of time being they are cast. Besides a good set of Manley h beams is around 800 not sure the cost difference of polishing and shot peening.

Dumb question.

Have you been told by your machine shop or someone else you can't grind on those rods to weight match them?
