I was passing by a Meijer grocery store/gas station and saw an E85 tanker and decided to stop and see if I could pick the driver's brain. He said that he is also a farmer that sells corn for E85. He and his family compete in truck pulling. They use methanol for fuel. He had never heard of using ethanol for street cars and the concept that I gave him of why we are all fascinated with it was a mystery and news to him. He said there was no way that it was 105 octane and that it was actually 87 octane. He didn't really even care for it at all. haha. I tested that exact pump to E85 with a Quickfuel Quick Tester last summer after I bought xtremejc's Cobra.

What do the experts think of this? I left not knowing quite what to think. Haha. Thanks....

Just cause he grows it, sells it, and drives the E85 truck doesnt mean that he knows anything about it.

How many cars have you seen make a significant power gain over RACE GAS using E85.. Quite a few actually, no way its 87 octane.

I had read online that the government subsidy was $1.72/gallon. He said it was close to $2.50/gallon. I wonder what is going to happen when the subsidy runs out? Do any of you have any info on this?

Thanks...

Fuel prices will rise and the incentive to use E85 will decrease. It will be cheaper than race fuel, but for guys that drive their cars on a regular basis it will become too expensive since it takes 30% more fuel to use over unleaded.... that's my guess anyway
