We just got back from vegas, try to make it out twice a year and always stay at Planet Hollywood except for the trip prior we stayed at Cosmopolition which was fantastic but a bit spendy as it had just opened. If you're looking for good food you will literally find it anywhere, we had a great dinner at Joes Steak House in Caesars if you're looking for a nice place it's a good option. My go to midnight food option is Earl of Sandwhich in planet hollywood, their meatball sub is out of this world. Holestines in Cosmo is awesome too, they have amazing Shakes that you can get with alcohol ;). I too would suggest hitting freemont street on Fri or Sat night, it's always a good (crazy) time down there. There are a ton of landmarks and shows to see, I am not one for shows but I know that Jersey Boys is great and O was pretty impressive also.

As for gambling, I love Planet Hollywoods vibe. They have great music, dealers are always great, and they have smoking hot girls dancing after 9pm. I have had great luck at New York New York casino and really enjoy playing there, you really can't go wrong while you're out there. A week would kill me, but if you pace yourself you should survive.

There's always hookers hanging out in the dark corners at the Center Bar in PH.

I dig the craps there though.

The cheapest I've seen is for around $200 for 5 laps in a Porsche, $300 for a entry Lamborghini or Ferrari and about 5-600 for the Aventador.
Personally I'd love to play in a Ford GT:rockon:

Anyone know any promotions or discounts for the Aria or other nice hotels there? The Aria looks great but it'd take a lot of the vacation budget money to stay there all week.

How is the Flamingo?
It seems reasonable and with Margaritaville downstairs it has caught the attention of my inner parrot-head lol.

The flamingos rooms have recently been updated at least that's what I was told by a dealer last week. As for room rates I can't help you much except to offer this advice. If you're going to gamble or eat at resorts get a players card. It's a free card that gives you points for food bought, money gambled, and time spent playing. I haven't paid for a room in years because of my players card, they send me free stay vouchers monthly and I don't gamble a ton, maybe more than average but nothing crazy at all. A players card will no doubt help you save money if you ever plan to return.

I stayed at the MGM Grand back in Jan for my birthday. Rooms are really nice as it was newly remodeled. Priced decently as well. Make sure you ask for a room closer to the elevators, the hallways are long as shit. I met Roger Daltry one night there after he played in a tiny bar (for free no less) with the whole rock n roll fantasy camp deal. We went and saw Penn & Teller who I have always wanted to see, loved that. Got to meet Penn afterwards he hung out for a while in the lobby after the show.
Rao's for italian food at Caesars was excellent. Had an amazing burger and shake at BLT burger in the mirage.
I love vegas, try and go back every year. Advice about the players card is good. Another tip: When we went to shows/restaraunts at any MGM/Mirage property, we could charge the item back to the room with our M-Life card. When you go to check out, ask if they can comp anything. They will look at the total you spent plus the total you gambled. If you pay for the food cash/credit, they won't know and you won't get the M-Life credits for it. I think they knocked about $80 off the tab at the end of the weekend. Find a craps table with the lowest possible minimum, (Casino Royale comes to mind), bet the table minimum on the pass line and put as much as you can on the free odds!
Let us know how you do!

Yeah - they just overhauled the Flamingo. Amazing that place is still around.

I always say the Flamingo is one of the best "bang for your buck" places to stay, clean reasonably priced rooms. We would stay there more but we go every September and really like the pools at the MGM.

Here's another tip we've been doing for years if you plan on doing some drinking. We take a collapsible cooler that fits perfect in our suitcase. Just outside the MGM on the strip there is a beer/liquor store where we'll buy some bottled water, snacks, beer and usually a 5th of rum to keep in the room. Every morning i'll ice down the cooler and after breakfast and a few Bloody Mary's the beer is ice cold. Saves a ton of cash:beer:

A week?!? Good luck!

I did that once and vowed never to do it again. Vegas is a great time! So much so that about 2 days in and you'll need a vacation from it!

exactly this. Three days max. My buddy came back from a week long group trip and had a doctors apt. His liver functions were "elevated"

These responses have been wonderful fellas, I really appreciate it!

Why are we staying a week you ask?
She already had flights booked for a week long trip as well as concert tickets (to see Kenny chesney )when she surprised me with the trip.
At least she's insisting on paying for it. Sometimes she can be too sweet but she knows the concert is for her.
I'm the designated dragger. At the Last chesney concert we went to back in August in Houston and we walked from the hotel to reliant stadium and back. The trip back alone covered 2+miles and after she had about 5 stirmoff ices, (5f.5in tall, and just 115lbs) but she was not walking on her own. I carried her back.

She's leaning heavily toward the flamingo. Since it seems reasonable, nice and renovated and smack in the middle of everything.

We always stay at least 5 days, so to me a week isn't unreasonable. Have fun at the concert, we saw Garth Brooks out there a couple years ago.

Well ended up booking at Rio. 7 days for $143... ($350 after fees) couldn't turn it down.
So I'll have more money to spend on other things

It's probably cheaper because it's not right on the strip, be prepared to take a cab to where you want to go. They may have a shuttle that takes you over also.

I was there two weeks ago the Rio is a cool casino but it is off the strip i would've suggested one of the ones on the strip so you could walk to all of the others. Get a rent a car at the Rio ! I thought the casino was cool there though I stayed at the Monte Carlo

You got ripped, we went from MGM to Freemont street two times on our last trip in September, and it was $25 each way. That is about 5 miles...Not to mention to and from the airport is about the same. These fares have been the same at least the last few years i've been out there.

We rented two town cars about 7 years ago and paid about $400 per car for about 5 days, but i'm sure there were better deals.
