soooo...anyone try to replace the pos terminal on a 2012 F150?

battery corroded, didnt notice it under the cover on the pos terminal and it needs replacing...they only sell the whole damned harness and terminal assembly for $155 (tasca pricing, list is over $100 more). Any actually replace this whole damned thing themselves yet?

I guess the other option being to order it and just swap the terminals and re-crimp the cables.

Sounds like your battery may be out-gassing. I'd just get a parts store, or junk yard, terminal and make the repair myself instead of replacing the harness.

I'm gonna have to go back to the parts store to look around but this is a pretty unique look terminal and theres no real slack in the harness to change things up. Ill check junk yard inventory but not holding my breath...truck is dead as a door nail, went to replace the battery and found this nice little mess

this is what the terminal looks like, you can see the top of the cable that comes up the side of the battery, no real slack to pull it up any further from what I can find. The cable that attaches right by the terminal would be easy enough to attach but you also have to be able to attach that fuse assembly

incase this happens to anyone else, once I got the terminal all cleaned up the back section of it is pretty solid, its just where it goes over the battery post thats in bad shape. Someone on the F150 forum mentioned just cutting off the portion that goes over the battery post then buy a replacement terminal with a stud and drill a hole in that remaining section and mount it to the stud that way. I think thats going to be my best option

Ill try to remember to post if I end up doing that but an F150Forum user just posted this part# BT4Z14450-AA which is for a Ford edge sport but it looks exactly the same layout just not copper. List price is $13.xx, Tasca has it for $8.04!

the hard part again would just be trying to uncrimp the cable from the one on the truck

If you end up replacing the terminal, look at some offered by the stereo shops. They have multiple hooks up and are well made if you buy the good ones.

i ordered the explorer sport terminal from my local dealer for $9, should be here Monday

one of the dealers about an hour away had 85 of them on hand...seems random as hell

I dont think the parts department or service counter people were terribly thrilled with this being figured out and Im quite sure theyll keep this info to themselves lol
