Soldiers on deployment will have to figure out where to store their personal cars and other belongings and pay for it out of pocket after the Army cracked down on reimbursing unauthorized storage fees.

As of Oct. 1, 2023, Army Sustainment Command stopped funding storage requests for deployed soldiers, according to a memo confirmed by Task & Purpose. The Army will no longer store household goods or privately-owned vehicles for “soldiers deployed for contingency operations,” the memo states.

It’s ok. We have illegals to take care of.
Yep. Read this one from today. Looks like migrants are getting cars. A lot of questions. No answers at this point.

Not surprised in the slightest. This country is long gone…

2024 will be a blood bath…

I deployed more than a handful of times in the early/mid 2000’s and never had a single thing stored at a cost to the government.

Guys living in the barracks would have it easier. Guys with an apartment full of stuff, not so easy.

I did it from both. You still collect housing allowance during deployments, so you would use that to pay for your apartment. If you decide to quit the apartment, you use your housing allowance to pay for storage.

Pay cut either way.

The housing allowance is a flat rate, soldiers would likely profit by storing their stuff while they’re deployed.

It’s also worth noting that not every service member gets a housing allowance. If you’re young (first tour) and not married, you’re likely to be in a room in a barracks (no storage cost). If you’re in an apartment, you probably have a spouse that would handle things in your absence.

If you were a barracks rat and you lost your room and were offered no storage solution, this would be a problem.
