So help a new guy out...315 or 335 in the rear?

I just don't know yet what the best rear setup is, 315's or 335's? I want to run CCW's but just not sure what the ideal setup is. I want to make sure I'm flush with the fender, but not overly aggressive whereas they're sticking out. I can't stand that.

Pics would be great, and I have looked through several threads, but still just haven't seen great examples of each.

I also know that tire brands make a difference. Was thinking 315 R888's for the longest time, but then realized if I could get 335's it may be nice to have the extra rubber.

TIA

I vote 315, I had 335's on and I just didn't like the way they made the car feel. Granted I had them on a 10.5 not an 11 but still. They did look awesome though. I eventually sold those rims and went to a 10" rim with a 295. If you get a good tire, depending on power level of course, you should be able to hook well. Guys rave about the 888's.

Thanks fore the reply. Yes I was thinking of running:

18x11's w/ 315/30/18 R888.

BUT THEN I SAW THIS CAR:

And evidently he was running:

18x10 CCW Classics 265/35/18 BFG KDW II
18x12 CCW Classics 345/30/18 BFG G-Force TA Drag Radials

And it looks absolutely ridiculous. I'm just not sure it's not TOO aggressive (is that possible?)

I vote 315s. I've had nitto 555R's on 10.5 replicas on 2 different cobras with no rubbing issues.

I have had both 335 and 315 rears - to me the 335 looks cartoonish and a little to much...just my 2 cents :) Good luck with the decision OP!

i vote 315 both for looks and function. the 315 fits the look of the car better and also fits an 11" wheel better. the "extra rubber" will do you no good if it isnt touching the ground. and tire bulge looks foolish in my opinion. a 315 r888 is a nice tire. there are some folks running a 305 r888 on the 11" wheels and it looks great and has more sidewall

I run 305/35/18 R888 on my 18x11 classics, doesn't stick out at all. I'd recommend the 305 or the 315 and you will be all set and not look as stupid as that mineral gray cobra....that looks terrible.

The difference in contact patch between the 305 and 315 is .1 inches, that's nothing. The 305 does have a taller side wall, so it comes down to asthetics. I wish I had gone with the 315, and my next set will be 315's as well.

I don't have any real good pictures in photobucket but if you look me up on instagram @torchredsvt I have a ton.

Good luck

R888s run wide. I have 295/30s on 18x10s and they are borderline bulgy. The 295s are noticeably wider than the Falken RT615 305/30s that were on it before.

The R888s are fantastically grippy. I highly recommend them!

Looks photoshopped...

not photoshopped at all....this pic was given to me by a fellow SVTP member that I bought the car from. i rode around with the car like this on 335 wide tires for about 2 months after purchasing the car and then switched to 315s; i now have 305s.

i just picked up 305 r888s thats goin on a 10.5 in rim. like others said the r888s run a lil wider than most tires. my power level will be in the 650rwhp range. the difference betweem the 315 and 305 is only .1 .

nitto 315-17's are too narrow. I have them on my mach and they look like 275's R888s are great way to go. their 295-18 measures just about 12" wide.

its what I was going to get but got my new DR for 50$ so couldn't pass it up .

Why is the center tread mark not in the center then lol. I have those same tires in 335...

Thanks for all the replies.

I actually drove the car last Friday (purchasing out of state), and the car looked great with the 295/35/18 BFG DR's. I can't imagine a 335 looking all that good.

315 may beef it up just enough, but I'm not that worried about it. Thanks again.
