aluminum driveshafts are known to cut .2 seconds and they weigh about 20lbs less than the stockers. rotating mass has a large impact on timeslips.

I'm inclined to think its the removal of that central bearing and its frictional losses along with the 20lbs that makes a difference, not just the 20lbs itself.
