Is there anything better than, Tri ax,or 5.0 shifter?
they are to notchy. I think these shifter s**k. had a 65,66 GTO,1979 Ford Fiesta,
I could power shift these cars without a miss, nice and smooth.
even the 79 ford. There has to be somthing out there better
Than these.
Thanks, POY ZIN

I think a lot of the "notchiness" is the internal shifting mechanism of the trans. The replacement shift systems merely direct the dogs, etc. with what is essentially one stem that goes into the Tremec. Remember, the mass and ruggedness of this trans is much higher than the other cars you mentioned. The replacement shifters get rid of a lot of the slop (rubber) in the stock system, which makes them notchier, but most people seem to like that.

some report that by replacing trans fluid with Redline, etc that the notchiness gets better. I haven't done it on mine, so I can't say. Search for a thread about trans fluid and that should shed light on the subject.

I change it, put Mobile one, same thing. I am
going to change to Amsoil, see if that makes
a difference.
Thanks, POY ZIN

When you have your Pro 5.0 or Tri Ax out of the car "shift" it. See how there is zero notchiness?? Unrestricted 360 degree movement.

That's because it's not the shifter, it's the trans.

I agree with Sly because I tried the Tri-Ax and found the same notchiness with the stock combination shifter/handle, the Tri-Ax and MGW handle, and the stock shifter with the MGW handle. The notchiness definitely is due to the transmission.
