That is my Dad who took the Daytona and the Ford GT to TWS. Carroll broke the shifter in the Yellow GT. And the Daytona Carroll was make laps in had really old race tires. Both cars belong to a good friend who let my dad take them around to different racing events and shows. The Daytona is owned by Rob Walton, and I think the GT is part of a museum collection now. It's not everyday that you see a Ford GT on a trailer going to McDonalds. LoL.

Great pics! I love a Daytona. I could give two shits less about a regular Shelby Cobra(unless it was an original of course) but these things have always excited me! I'd love to have a kit Daytona one day.

Ferrari pitched the idea to the FIA that he can race the 250 LM with no issues since it was "the same car" as the 250 GTO, just with the minor detail of the engine now being in the back. Since Ferrari was Ferrari, the FIA said ok.
Shelby (& his hatred of Ferrari) used Ferrari's loophole to rebody the Cobra roadsters with the Daytona body and ended up winning the world championship in '65 as a result.

Some pics of the yellow GT40 at Texas World Speedway in 1983.
Looks like red351wcobra and I posted the same pic. I'm not sure if I took that pic - several of us were using our fancy 35mm cameras that day. But I vaguely remember ordering the 5x7's and 8x10's from negatives. I've had it framed since the '80s - way before scanners - and I don't remember anybody giving me those. But who knows? red351wcobra's dad was all over taking pictures and VHS movies at our get togethers. He shot some compromising video of me on the highway between Waco and Temple one day.
