I really want to get this section built up, so in that spirit I'm going to offer a reward to those willing to share good info. If you have a how-to, tech article, or great faq let me know. If I think it's good enough we'll do something with it and you'll get a free SVTP decal in return.

Travis, I just changed out my water pump on my 7.3L PSD. When I get some time, I'll try and put together a how-to for you.

In the mean time, here is a site quite a few of the PSD forums have dedicated links to because it's chock full of great tech info for the 7.3L PSD.

http://guzzle.rbmicro.com/

And another great resource site for the 7.3.

The how-to would be great. I'm trying to build the knowledge base here so we don't have to link people out to other sites.

Yes, I figured as much. Much like you've done with the Gen 2 L forum.

I only posted the links to those two sites because they are both regularly used resources on all the PSD forums I'm registered at. They sort of cross the lines and have become generic-type answers for FAQ regarding the topics those two maintenance websites cover.

I'll try and have that water pump write-up for you this week.

My engine went bye-bye in the L, and my daughters alternator took a dump in her Escape, so I'm kind of knee-deep in stuff.

I hate front wheel drive vehicles! It's gonna be a booger-bear trying to replace that alternator.

I can come up with some in my own words, we all can!

BTW Stewart, I thought your L was OK, you pulled the plug and that was the cause? I maybe didn't read anything passed that.

Naw, the plug was an indicator. I haven't done a leakdown test or compression check yet because I don't have the tools (gonna borrow them from a friend) but I'm 90% sure part of the piston ring is gone on the number three cylinder.

I've been looking at putting in extra reverse lights and maybe some lights in the bed. I'll try to get a simple write up on that when I can get to it.

I have an 04 so there is no room over the hitch but my understanding is that some small cheap lights will fit on top of the hitch on 05+. I'll have to mount my reverse lights to the side of the the hitch.

I've seen people put different types of lights in the bed, really helps if you have a cover.

Also seen lights mounted under the truck so when you unlock and the interior lights come on it floods light under the truck.

Getting the fogs to stay on while high beams are on is one mod I have done, I don't know if that's common knowledge or not. I'd have to look that one up again but it does help on dark roads when turning on side streets and the high beams are on.

These aren't my ideas but some things I've seen that can be handy. Especially the reverse lights, wire them with reverse and a manual switch for hooking a trailer. Laws in some locations may not allow extra backup lights.

I have a friend that installed two flood lights on either side of his hitch on his 04 SD. He just made a bracket and connected them. I will try to get a picture if I can.

I can type up my own version of a coolant flush on a 7.3 if there would be any interest in having a How-To.

I'll try and do up a how-to on the "high-idle" mod for the 6.0, and I mounted a set of Grote utility lights on my backrack to make it easier for me to plow dark parking lots.

I may need a proofreader though, I'm no J.K. Rowling.

Powerstroke Manual: http://www.thedieselgarage.com/uplo...6=0&bcsi_scan_filename=POWERSTROKE_MANUAL.pdf

When i get home I will be installing:
- TransferFlow replacement 47 gal replacement fuel tank (currently have a stock 28 gal tank)
- New rims/tires
- Replaceing most of my lights with Recon smoked lights

I MIGHT install (depending on my financial situation when i finally get home)
- Icon 2" leveling kit
- Harley smoked headlights

I will try and do some How To's on the things I actually install. Speaking of which, i need to get a new lens for my camera. It is going to suck taking pictures for a How To with only a 70-200mm lens to use :rollseyes

6.0L Info

Part Number Interchange - Current Ford to International cross reference (complete) as of 08/2005

HFCM Water Separator Drain Plug Upgrade

International Part Numbers
---------------------------

Oil Filter Kit (gasket inc.) - #1840752C91

Fuel Filter Kit - #1847170C92 (or #1847170C93)

Drain Plug - #2589259C91

International (Racor?) filters are the prefered filters. You can get them cheaper at an International dealer than going to a Ford dealer for the same filter. (I wonder how much cheaper Steve can get the Ford filters + shipping) They also meet OEM specs (obviously), unlike some inferiour aftermarket filters.

Under hood locations (including fuel water seperator located under cab)

Other than Ford info + random stuff: (again, taken from other forums)

ODB II Error Codes From Dodge Trucks

Diagnostic Trouble Codes for OBD II (OBD2) equipped General Motors (GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Pontiac, Saturn) vehicles. - Updated through the 2004 model year

Domestic code lookup

Collaborative Biodiesel Tutorial - Online Resources

GM trouble codes again - I am assuming this is duplicate info, at least you have options for information. I am not sure which one is all inclusive when it comes to looking up codes.

BioDiesel supplier listing and info

you can type in your zip code and find gas, diesel, biodiesel, ULSD, etc.

The Official Site of the National Biodiesel Board

http://www.nearbio.com/ - NearBio is a FREE service that combines the most comprehensive, verified list of US biodiesel stations (retail pumps) and driving directions with easy access from your cell phone or your computer!

List of trailer manufactuers - I assume you are going to have a towing section (i have too many screens open right now to check. There are more posts in there with more manufactuers that can be compiled into one big list.

Adding 2 cycle oil to Diesel Fuel - I haven't read it but i assume it address the issue of using ULSD in pre-2008 trucks and the fewer lubricating properties assiciated with ULSD.

ULSD Article - Also haven't read yet.
