I actually learned to drive stick on my Dads 1989 Jeep Cherokee base model (very light).
That Jeep was an absolute blast to drive with the manual transmission and the high torque 4.0L I6.

That Jeep could roast the tires at will. :burnout:

I dont now much about cherokees, but i have some knowledge of the wrangler JK's (2007 +). Jeepforum.com or pirate4x4.com would be good places to find info.

Well, i may as well post a pic or two of my 2008 wrangler with one or two mods.....

Bought my '95 Cherokee 2 weeks ago for $1900. 4.0/auto. I love this thing, and they are absolutely bulletproof. You could empty the oil out of the 4.0 and it would probably still run forever. Mine has some rot on the floorpans, and apparently that's pretty common, but it doesn't bother me - I'll just throw some new pans in it if it gets bad.

When I bought it, the power windows didn't work. There were some broken wires in the boot that goes from the driver door to the cabin - apparently this is also common. I spliced in some new wire, and everything is back to working order.
