I was wondering if someone could explain to me how a roots style supercharger could be installed on a basically stock 2004 mustang gt. What would need to be done in order to put one on the car and where can I look for the kits or parts to do so?

Kenne bell or tork tech are your best options. There are a few others but the power potential simply isn't there and the parts can be very hard to find.

Google the 2 names listed above and do some reading.

As stated above, Kenne bell makes a kit for the stock 2v, and torq tech makes kits that allow you to put superchargers designed for the 4v motor onto your 2v. Both will replace your intake manifold, throttle bodies, intakes, fuel pumps and MAF.

The biggest problem is that the stock 2v motor and fuel system really limits the car. Safe HP limit is 420-450 depending on who you ask, and you need new fuel pumps to reach that. If you want to go above that, you need to replace the rotating assembly and basically the entire fuel system. All of which costs a good chunk of coin.

Most importantly, get a good high quality dyno tune from a reputable tuner.

New to this site and I was just scrolling thru and saw this. I looked up the torque tech kit for 99-04 gt and it says that you will not clear the stock gt hood. So possibly having to factor in the cost of a new hood as well. Does anyone make a hood raise spacer? (If thats a thing)

Hood spacer?...No, however, they sell what's known as a "cowl hood", which is exactly what you'll be needing. They have varying levels of how high the cowl hood is. As far as what the minimum sized cowl hood you'll need, I cannot answer that. Check with the company, they will know specifics on how much clearance is needed.

You can also get drop motor mounts.

2V internals are essentially glass. Putting a ton of money into a blower setup is close setting a pile of money on fire. On a cheap motor that is likely to break anyway I'd go for a cheap power adder like a wet N2O kit, or save money for something more modable.

Cobra 03-04 would clear it. You basically need an inch at the S/C snout.

Roots on a 2V is a waste of time and money. It only makes sense on the SVT cars because it's a bolt and go.

With a stock 2V, just grab a used Vortech and add 150hp.

If your going to pull the engine and change out the crank, rods and pistons. Might as well just turbo it... or even Coyote swap, $2k gets you a 400hp F150 5.0 and those can take 600hp.

Depends on his states emissions testing. If they have it, its a lot easier to just go with CARB approved supercharger setup, or coyote swap.

Coyote swap would be the way to go, but that isnt by no means a cheap or easy swap either!

Emission compliant? No.

$2k motor + MS3? Yes

I'd also convert to the GM electric steering and manual brakes to avoid having to deal with retrofitting the hydraulics.
