Went to Lions many times prior to OCIR opening up. Right next to refinery. Still remember the tag line. "Lion Drag strip where 223rd and Alamedia collide." Went to the old Irwindale strip a few times also. Really started actually racing tho at OCIR until it went big time and could not afford to keep up. Damn I'm old!
Like that shot of Wild Bill Shrewsberry LA Dart. Guy was crazy. He would wheel stand all the way down the track turn around and wheel stand all the way back. Real crown pleaser.

The Nostalgic Drags at Keystone Raceway in Pittsburgh is my favorite event every year. Sensory overload. Me and Lilly (13 now) go every year. This guy ran 9’s N/A with a stick and leaf spring rear. Dude can drive!

the tech/s at RPR don't seem to bother with much inspecting...at least on test'n'tune nights...I have seen some real death traps make it staging lights.

It wasn't like that back in the day. Tech was brutal.

Sure it can all be fixed, but he sure took a good lick!...the old saying, don't take anything to the track you can't leave there...holds true. I bet this guy has years worth of payments to make.
