I'm going to get a new set of wheels and tires and I had some questions regarding front tire sizes. I'm going to get 18x9 and 18x10.5 wheels. For the rear I'm going to run a 305-35-18 Toyo R888. For the front I want to run a 275-40-18 but I did a search and couldn't find many pictures of that size. I want the sidewall height in the front to match as it did when I ran 275-35-18 with 315-30-18 combo. If anyone could post pictures of either the 275-40-18 or even 265-40-18 I'd appreciate it. Just for reference I will include the height for the tires I'm inquiring about.

275-35-18 - 25.5"

265-40-18 - 26.3"

275-40-18 - 26.6"

305-35-18 - 26.4"

I'll be running 275-35-18's in the front with my 305-35-18's in the rear R888's.. It's what I run now with a BFG KDW2's up front and it works great.. That little bit of a difference you don't even notice.. You find hella pictures of my car.. Hell you saw it in person and you couldn't tell lol!

Yeah I've seen 275/35/18's with 305/35/18's out back and it looks good. I was just wondering if anyone ran the 275/40/18. I like you're setup so maybe I'll stick to 275/35/18's. Thanks for the info bud.

this is actually a pic with 315/35/18 toyo TQs to give you an idea. I actually have 305/35/18 toyo R888s now, but no good profile pics like this one. These TQs are actually taller and beefier than the R888s by a smidge (TQ 26.6 tall, R888 26.3)

Fronts are 275/35/18 toyo proxy4s

There's no way I'd recommend running a 40 series up front. That would look goofy IMO too much sidewall almost "reverse rake" and also add unnecessary unsprung weight to the nose...exactly where you don't want it. I think 305/35/18 rear and 275/35/18 is perfect, but to each his own :coolman:

275/35/18 NT05 front, 295/35/18 NT05 rear (would have liked a 305 rear... hint, hint Nitto)

I'm going to stick with the 275/35/18 like Chris recommended as well. I appreciate advice and the Cobra is looking good on the CCW's.

why are you guys spending big money on fronts to match the rears? there's Many good radials out there for half the price?

i like the idea of matching performance.

.... and it just looks better.

.

Well for looks is I guess one reason, but when you push your car in corners on the street or track the first thing you start to feel is the car pushing for the most part.. Better front grip helps.. Not all people just drive in a straight line, and out here in CA and the Bay Area there are so many back roads to push your car it's just stupid lol.

For me, my rear end is planted like a mother even with my old HP setup.. The main issue I had was lose of front traction mainly because I was running KDW2's up front.

I'm not. I have (now) R888 out rear and proxy4 up front.

Funny too....I've gone through 3 sets of rears in 3 years...but the proxy4 fronts look practically brand new LOL. Whatever choice you make up front cost wise, it's not like it's going to get changed much. Might as well get what makes you happy as for as complimenting the rear. The rear tire is where the turnover will occur. I hate those tire shops touching my CCW rears once a year. :cryying:
