If my valve covers have a leak and oil is starting to get into the spark plug area. I'm going to be replacing the vavle cover gaskets soon but my question is could it be losing some boost because of the leaky valve cover.

No, you will not lose boost through a valve cover gasket. You can lose boost through a head gasket or a loose spark plug among other areas.

Also be aware that the valve cover gasket does not come with the plug well seals ->basic part # 6C527 which is the actual cause of your plug well leak.
