Some may be interested in this. It provides a little more of the stealth look.

Takes about 1/2 hour to do.

The Stock pulley cover can be modded to fit over the 3rd idler just by rebending the existing cover slightly.

You will have to look at this post to see the pics and details:

Nice! I'm running a 2.8 with a BF stealth idler and I'd like to retain my cover also. Do you have any tips for performing this mod?

At the end of the above captioned thread, the mods are listed. It is just that simple.

That's pretty much sums it up. The top support bar is tweaked just a little, and the lowest support hole isn't used or needed.
I do have a plan for the lower one should it become necessary, but so far, in over 600 miles, it hasn't loosened up or moved at all.
I will probably try it anyway, just to see if I can do it.

Doug,
No one has mentioned going that I have heard, from around here. A lot of us are still dialing in all the new pieces from the winter, myself included. Haven't even been to the strip yet. Hell, the new Bogarts are still in the boxes...
Got to work on my own car this week.

Great mod! Real good for those that want to keep the cover on with an idler setup. Thanks for sharing & detailing the modification.

Any problems with hood clearance? Mine seems a little close, I'm going to check that it doesn't hit when the motor torques.

None that I noticed. It wasn't hitting with the hood blanket on, so I don't think it will hit with it off.
There are no marks on the cover or the hood so far.
If you are still concerned, try putting some clay or something similar on the top of the cover and drive it. You can then measure the resulting thickness and see just how much clearance exists. I would have done this, but I didn't have any thing to measure it with.

Post back with any results and we can add it to the thread.

Thanks,
Dana

Very cool ! Nice to know it can be done Dana. Like you said...much better than the shredding the blank and ripping on the hood. I know..you remember..I have been there too with my first 03.

Nice mod. Why did you do it? Did you want the stock look or is it to keep fingers intact? Just curious. :)

If you follow the thread in the first post above , it shows where the bends are to be made. It is really simple and requires no fancy tools. Just a little time to make the adjustments. No more that 30 minutes to do the whole job.

I did it for two reasons:
1) to see if I could do it

2) I like the stealth mode

I have resolved the belt eating problem, so that isn't much of a concern any longer.
