Does anyone know a way to get around internet filters at work? I've googled various proxy bypasses and that's yielded zero results. They're all blocked too!

Yes ... here is how you do it ....

Write your letter of resignation, effective the day you write it, then you won't have to worry about your office firewalls.

In today's world you really don't want to do this. To do so and get caught will generally cost you your job. and don't think for a second that you won't get caught you will ... it is just a question of when

DoD uses Smart Filter blocks which aren't even that good because they block harmless sites that we should be able to get on anyway.

Im sure some Air Force/Army/NavyCommunications Geek...errmmm I mean Comm troop come in here to chime in!

+1 - I've seen many people walked for bypassing the proxy server. IT can see every website you go to and in many organizations, management receives weekly reports on the websites their employees have visited. If you are determined in doing this - look at a service like logmein.com.

If the random ones like anonymouse and thecloak don't work. Start lookin up free manual proxy IPs to put into your IE settings. Be ready for a gay time though cause it takes a while and a lot of trying before you find a good fast one that works.

If you are in IRAQ DO NOT DO THIS!! I have seen a couple of fellow contractors walked, and several military NJP'd due to firewall avoidence out here.

If you are army try www.mail2web.com that used to work on the army bases don't know if it still does. It used to work on the marine sites but it is blocked now.

On marine sites gmail and hotmail still work ... if you have someone you can trust back in the states have them log onto your account and set up mail forwarding to your gmail account or go to the internet cafe and do it from there.

Do you have wireless? Maybe you could get onto a different network. I set up my own router in our network closet and I just switch wireless profiles when I want to go to blocked sites. I can't imagine lots of people would have access/balls to do that though.

Yea its not worth it man!
Its actaully in the AFI or whatever your Branches DoD Network Users guidlines are called. Yahoo mail/hotmail and AOL are all unauthorized on most DoD servers.
DoDs Smart Filter system works off of key search words like email, humor, pornography, forums, chat, message boards, media, games, downloads etc these types of words are flagged and it will block any site containing such content
On our work computers they got so smart that you cant even use google or yahoo image or video tabs anymore!

And yes your base communications technicians can search you user account and access your internet browsing history as well as your hard drives if they have a suspicion of unauthorized content such as porn, non DoD emails, proxies or P2P downloading.
Trust me Ive seen plenty of people go down for this petty shit, but hey welcome to military life!

****ing bullshit! the internet is supposed to be free for the masses!

my company just got immensly anal about internet useage. we used to run the entire plant off of one dsl line, and it was sucked of bandwidth cause a bunch of us streamed music (theres no local english rock stations anymore), so they switched to T1 and now are all crazy about not being able to use it. they tried to make us sign some contract about its useage. i told them no, and that if they blocked me i would stop using my computer, and they would eventually need to fire me, thusly ****ing the company even more (im the last with knowledge of our product, everyone else has quit due to the immense bullshit) and i would be perfectly content with unenployment, and that its their choice now, and that i wouldnt have any issues finding another job, and they however would have extreme hardships when customers call for technical support and nobody at the plant knows jack shit. a few others have also refused.

To answer your question, weprox.net and kproxy.com work.

Sorry but RDJ's right. Same goes for schoolblows and that's why I said if the random ones won't work, IE all those mentioned, you'll have to find an ip to go through. Probably not worth it though for you.

You could do what I did. Convince your boss that the network admin is an idiot that doesn't know what he's doing, and that the outside consultant is a jerk and a waste of money. Then, demonstrate your superior knowledge and PC skillz. Then get put in charge of the network and get an administrator account and do whatever the hell you want. :D

No, I sure don't. :( I even tried using Google translator, and that got me to the home page, but once I tried to log in, it told me that my access was denied.

Why are only certain forums blocked though? Regardless... it's dumb. Blocking pornography and stuff like that I can understand, but a silly forum? Get a life... ya' know?
