Both Procharger and Vortech blowers do the same thing. Its all in what you want and what you plan on doing with it. Both have pros and cons, just some with more pros than cons.

Honestly either would get the job done. Its all about your setup, gears suspension etc. :rolling:

Dont forget you dont need alot of power to run good 1/4 times. You need to put it down.

These guys did

It really comes down to who you're asking.

Vortech has a self-contained line if that's the type you're interested in.

V-3 Si-Trim Supercharger | Vortech Superchargers

Otherwise, I run a V2 SC-Trim on my car with a methanol kit, and I'm very happy with the way it performs. I also have a 3 year warranty on the supercharger from Vortech which is nice.

I went procharger. Lower IATs that go along with the procharger coming with a FMIC. Not sure on efficiency numbers but either way both are good blowers, I had an S-trim on my notch but I was going to have to run meth so I didn't pulley it down as much as I wanted. Like was mentioned before the FAST cars are running Procharger. Plus you can't beat the "DC-10 taking off" sound I get from my Procharger under boost.

I would say do it before that if you can. There's a chance that the block could be taken out too if a rod lets go.

(rods and pistons) i do all my own work and i would hate to add an extra 1500 to the project when i can do it myself...how hard is it to do rods and pistons yourself...seen any tech articles on how to do it

The Ford service manual (which I have) details the process step-by-step including pictures. However, there is machine work involved as well as balancing.

I would spend the extra to have a reputable shop do it right, but that's just me.

1. Looks of the blower completed, satin, polished, general install
2. Step up ratio you need. Race or daily driver-how much boost
3. Price
4. Intercooled or not?
In other words, what looks good to you, does it meet your power levels,do i have room to grow, do they have good customer service, etc

thats how you pick a blower.

Even though they are very fast I'm not a fan of the sound of a centri especially a procharger at idle. If it's a track car fine but for a DD I feel it cheapens the car.

As for changing rods and pistons after it's blown it'll cost you 3 times the money if you take out the block and the heads, which is not uncommon.
If you do all the work yourself and the car has low miles you may be able to get away with a simple bottlebrush hone along with a piston and rod swap although that wouldn't be the way I'd do it.
I have a complete longblock for my car just in case I blow it up before I'm ready to rebuild. When I'm ready to rebuild I'll send in the spare motor and have it built if the one in the car is still alive.
