Yes.

You can't reach 90% of the casting flash and flaws in a stock '99/'01 Cobra or '03/'04 Mach 1 intake without cutting it open - the flash & flaws are mostly in the lower plenum.

I'm very happy with the one he did for me.....and I can feel the difference too!! Haven't put it on the dyno yet but...SOTP HP Meter says about 10-12 hp increase:-D

has anyone read the new article on our intakes in one of the big mustang mags? they compared it to everything out there and even tested the new carcraft 5.0 adapter plates for our motors, pretty interesting.

which mag??

MM&FF

- It shows that the Karkraft adapter is good for only show
- The Aviator intake does not provide much for gains
- The stock intake is pretty damn good in stock form
- The Sullivan and the FR500 would do okay with a lot more cam.

- The Sullivan and the FR500 make peak power at about 6800 with stock cams.

With that, if the motor was cammed the results would have been much different.
ii don`t know about that,i have MM and FF magazine ,and with stage 1 cams the stock intake(ported) still out gain the fr500 intake in mid power range.

My bad, I was thinking it had stock cams.

does it give the part number of the cams?
specs .0452lift and 209 degress of duration at .050. mind u this is older magazine MM and FF march 2005. this was on a SHM motor with 10.5:1 compression.

The magazine that I was referencing is the most recent one.

Those cams have more lift but at 209 degrees of duration they are only a little more aggressive than stock 96-98 cobra cams.

To answer your question, a fully ported intake will provide about a 10rwhp gain throughout the entire range. An intake that just has the upper area ported may give gains in the 2-3rwhp range.

Here is a dyno graph that compares stock vs. fully ported, courtesy of Angus:

i dont have the mag i was reading a friends but it was an shm built 4.6l so they couldnt have been stock

i think the carcraft pieces could do better with a port match to the gaskets, there are some pretty badass 5.0 intakes around
