Fobra it! You gonna be all show and no go but you gonna look good doing it. Ask how I know...
you never get money back out of a modded car period. But. if it were me Id swap in a PI motor and put a vortech on it. make 400hp and have fun.
I want a 5.4 2v swap with just the top of the blower poking through the hood. Think I saw a black one for sale a while back that had a whipple on it looked crazy. Get cog pulley on it and wake the dead!

My ‘99 with gears exhaust and tires was a blast to thrash around.
It was “acceptably quick” 20 years ago when it came out, but now a mid 13 second car is just an entry level performance vehicle.
That said, it looked good, sounded great, and While I worried about repairs at the time, it was very affordable.
I say just find a replaceable motor, throw gears/tires/exhaust at it and let it rip.
There is always someone bigger, faster, smarter, etc. Also, never count out the underdog. As daddy always said, someone will always be faster
I just dont want to be dusted by a friggin Focus RS... that means Im going to have to increase my budget and rethink this entire vehicles future... let the pondering continue.
I agree with this.If the car is for the wife what does she want?
Drive car to nearest cliff. Put transmission in neutral and give it a push over edge. Get a good nights sleep. Then go look for a newer car. I had an 04'. Don't ask what happened to it.
I think the wife would probably have a little fun in it. She wants some power, but shes not gonna be rollin down the strip every weekend. She and I discussed last night. I think we have a plan in place finally. The motor will be rebuilt but not to stock. Ive found a shop to quote the work. Gonna see what that looks like and go from there. In the meantime, I'll play with appearance mods and make it look good. Ive got a few weeks of cleaning, detailing, and replacing small things on the car. Should be fun!
