Picked up another Cobra (just in time for the 50th Anniversary!)

I’ve owned a wide variety of cars over the years, but I grew up in a Ford family and always had a soft spot for Mustangs. I owned an ’03 Cobra during college which was an incredible car, but a terrible time for me to own one. For the last few years I’ve considered picking up another one, but never pulled the trigger for one reason or another. Back in January I came across a Cobra that was too good to pass up. It’s an ’04, one owner, with 30k miles and had very few mods (exhaust, pullied, tuned).

Here it was shortly after purchase:

The car was very clean, but it looked far too stock for my taste. I set out to get the car how I wanted before going to the Mustang 50th Anniversary event in Charlotte last weekend. The 4x4 look had to go so I changed to H&R Sports and MM camber plates.

Next I had to make a wheel change. I really didn’t want to break the bank right now so I went with the Varrstoen wheels that are CCW Classic reps (18x9.5, 18x10.5, 275/295 Nittos). The wheels only came with silver center sections but I really wanted black. I went with a temporary fix and used plastidip to coat the center section. Took me 3 cans and 6 coats but it turned out pretty well:

With the wheels and tires mounted there was nothing left to do but give the car a final detailing. Over the course of two nights I washed, clay barred, buffed with rubbing compound, and finally waxed just in time for the trip to Charlotte. I had a great time at the event, but was a little bummed that it rained. I particularly enjoyed the cruise to Kannapolis.

I need to take some better pics, but I’m pretty happy with the transition thus far. Haven’t decided what my long term plans will be for the car. Comments and criticisms are welcomed!

Also, it looks like it is sitting pretty low, even for SS springs. Did you remove the stock ISO's? It looks real good, I was just curious.

Yea, that's w/out the ISO's. It ended up a little lower than I expected, but it worked out pretty well

The wheels/car look good. You should take some pics in the original finish too. Brushed finish is a classic.

You guys actually think those wheels look good? I think the stockers look 10x better on that car.

I did the plastidip work before I had the tires mounted so I don't have any pics of the original finish mounted on the car. I'll try to get some better pics soon including a close up or two of how the car sits

The AFS 18's were actually my second choice but decided against it. I may consider picking up a set of those for a change of pace at some point.

Yeah that is low. I tried that for a few days then the stock ISOs went right back in. To me the SS springs with stock ISOs is the PERFECT stance.

Looks good. Make sure you come up and introduce yourself if we see each other's car around town.

Will do. I've seen your car out once or twice. Every time I saw it it sparked that push to find another Cobra! I'll probably be at the Cary Cars & Coffee next weekend if you're around
