Here's a couple of Pics of the Airboat: It was a mean machine, but the heat got the best of it. I burned an exhaust valve and had some detonation on a couple of pistons. photo 1.JPGphoto 3.JPG

It was quite impressive. It went anywhere and would throw you back in the seat on dry ground if you punched it.

tooManyToys: I bought it from an SVT member a couple of years ago and he said it had around 15,000 miles. I put new oil in it, and only ran it on the airboat long enough to realize the ebay motor I bought needed a compression test. I bought the TVS after purchasing a remanufactured AER motor and installed them all at the same time.

All PM's replied.... Thanks for the compliments on the boat. It's still a work in progress.

The AER motor had a sealing problem on one of the exhaust valves. Compression test, with reduction unit and swinging a prop by the starter, turned 150-151 on all cylinders but one, where it was 40. I Pulled the heads after a leak-down test and found that some of the pistons had some scuffing caused by detonation near the crown of the piston. I'm trying to decide what to do with the motor at this point. The heads are the DC castings with Stainless exhaust valves. The block was bored .020 over.

The long block really needs a new set of pistons, hone the bores, and re-seat the exhaust valve on cylinder 1. AER used DSS Pistons in their rebuild. The crank and rods are in great condition.
