They were fun cars during that time period and those big blocks were lots of fun in the day. My favorite Vette ever and probably any car is the 67 Vette coupe 427-435. The best lines ever on a Vette. I had a chance to buy a 67 427 Vette coupe in Maroon back in 1975 for $4500 just like the one pictured below but passed.

You were always wrenching on those cars back then. My friend had a 70 LT1 Vette coupe which had solid lifters and they always had be adjusted. It was a big PITA. But we had fun cruising and street racing.

Todays higher HP cars are faster than those 60's big blocks with less displacement. Its why I like my GT500 so much because it has the 60's muscle car look with more power and its faster than them also.

My uncle had one just like the picture you posted, same color and all, but he had built his and it was making 550hp they say but I doubt anyone actually knew the real figure at the time. His brother ended up flipping it into a pond in Spokane lol.

My cousin in Hawthorne, CA had a red 427/435 while I was stationed in Long Beach. We'd go cruising and OMG, what a freaking rush. The torque was awesome. What wasn't awesome was literally watching the gas gauge move as he drove. I think he only averaged around 5 mpg. But they were all fun miles, and gas was pretty cheap back then. Pretty much looked identical to this one. I'll bet he wishes he still owned it.

My dad's and my friend's were both that light blue color and both were verts. He definitely wishes he still had that or his 70 Boss 302.
