2 questions. When I did an oil change the other day I put in 5 qts. That does not seem to even wet the dipstick. what is the true capacity of the iol on these 03's? And is amsoil a good brand to switch to?

6 quarts.

I've heard good things about amsoil - haven't used it myself, but I probably will soon.

Yep 6 quarts and 6 Quarts only will only show up in the middle of min/max line on dip stick but the stick is inacurate.

6 quarts puts mine between the add mark and the full mark and thats where I leave it. :)

6 quarts if you haven't hear by now :)
Some put in 6.5 to satisfy the dipstick, but the manual calls for 6 so thats what I put in.

thx fellas. someone said that 6 will be too much....... thats why I asked. They said when they were at Jiffy Lube they had the tech call Ford and they were adamante that it was 5 qts and 5 qts only. Something about to be careful not to over fill these modular motors. So now I'm really confussed. :)

Don't use a jiffy pube filter! It doesn't flow enough oil. I got or noticed the dreaded tick after using one. Motorcraft filters only. 5 bucks at the dealer.

There was a huge discussion about this last year.

SIX QUARTS SIX QUARTS SIX QUARTS SIX QUARTS SIX QUARTS!!

Maybe Jiffy lube didn't specify the Cobra, or got an ignorant response from Ford?

Six quarts period! Who in the hell at Ford would say 5 quarts? The GT is 5 quarts, maybe that's where that comes from. Also, from all my research, the Motorcraft is one of the best filters and guess how much it costs at Walmart? $2.97

Motorcraft has always been the best filter. Jiffy Lube leaves drain plugs loose. Just get under the car and DIY.

Use 6 quarts of 5w-20 oil and a Ford FL-820S filter.
Will show up on dipstick at halfway point.
Castrol GTX just came out with 5w-20 oil.
You should have read your SVT manual.
Don't use any FRAM oil filters!!!bad-no good-junk.
