Don’t know where Bucks county is, but that’s more than most teachers make after 30 years.

If you’re opinion of teacher pay is based on that figure, it’s distortion from reality.

Teachers here start around 33-35.

PA is an outlier, a high paying state starting out, 42 is average starting salary here. I bet if you averaged them all out, around 60k. But, in 20 or so states the average teacher starting salary is below the poverty threshold.

Average American FAMILy only makes around $54k. Teachers that make less typically live in rural areas with lower cost of living anyways.

Chicago pays nearly $84k. Teachers also typically get pensions and healthcare. This is why it’s a great spousal career. Short work days, holidays and lots of time off. It matches up great for covering childcare.
