Tricare is their medical coverage and BAH is housing allowance. Goes up significantly when you are married. Some people get married just to get it.

In San Diego, the housing allowance (BAH-Basic Allowance for Housing) is like $2400 or $2500 now. It's $2400 here in Seattle so I can imagine it is more in SD at this point. But you can guess the small fortune you can accrue when you are getting paid that much and use it wisely along with receiving com-rats back, which is the $400-500 they take from your pay each month for food because they are providing it to you in the form of the chow hall. That is the biggest scam imo too. Who wants to eat at the chow hall every day 3 times a day. I guess it is a good excuse to ditch the girl you are banging on the weekend though. "Sorry babe, the chow hall closes in 30min... can't miss dinner!"
