NT05R good at all four corners?

Prepping to buy new tires for the car. Going with a four tire replacement as I am pretty unimpressed with the Coopers on there now. Going for the stocker 275/17 NT05R on the rears for sure, but would you recommend them for the fronts as well? I just don't read much about them as a front tire. I suppose it would make tire rotations possible and saving a few bucks for a cheaper front isn't a concern. This is a non-DD car, does not come out in the rain, and sees <1000 miles a year.

If not NT05R on the front (and staying within the Nitto line-up), what would you recommend instead?

Thanks!

Those tires are not made for lateral grip, so they would basically be dangerous up front. Toyo is owned by Nitto, and if you want grippy front tires look no further than the Toyo Proxes R888. Its what the roadracers use when the track is too wet for slicks, so you will have no trouble in the rain, and they are super grippy.

Sounds like good advice guys, thanks. Will probably revise my selections to Nitto 555 up front and 555R or NT05R out back.

That is what I run, 555 up front and 555R out back... staggered set up. I have no complaints except it sits for a week or two they will flat spot.

I know that feeling. These three season Coopers flat spot too... makes for a rough half mile or so before they roll out.

Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's are awesome. Super sticky. Pretty quiet. Very happy with them. Have them in 18s on all corners

Don't waste $1 on 555r's, biggest POS tires out there. Wheel hop galore!

If you want a quieter softer ride stay away from R888 up front. Being they are a roadrace tire they have a hard sidewall and are noisy. I know from first hand experience. Get something more pedestrian for the front.

I got the Invo's after seeing 'vette owners raving about them both front and rear. I feel the same for the fronts and why I recommend to the OP.

Surprisingly, Walmart of all places sells the NT05 online for a good price. They even sell NT05R but out of stock right now.

Let me know how it goes with the NT05 on the rear. I'm only putting down 430HP so if yours stick in 2nd gear and above, they should be fine for me.

can't wait for monday!!!

drove the car for a couple of hours today and the 555's don't have a fighting chance.

i just checked the WalMart price on the NT05's in my size and i was able to get mine mounted and balanced for a few bucks less than the listed price.

OP, if you're going with Nitto NT05Rs on the rear you should go with NT05s up front. They'll match the rear and they grip better than Nitto NT555s. With your HP level you'll be able to dead hook in 1st gear from a dig with the 05R on the back!

with temps barely reaching the low 50's today, 295/35-18 NT05's DO NOT hook in first, second or third...

I only got about 4,000 miles with 6 months of daily driving to work on my NT-05's. Hopefully you have better luck.

Nt05r's in rear Invos in front rides and handles like a dream. Forget Nt05r's in even sprinkler puddles. Solved that with a 3rd set of summer/highway wheels and tires.*
