Well, its been a while since I've had a Mustang, but I'm finally back in one. The last 5 years, I've been driving a 99 L. While it was fun to drive most of the time, I had a lot of problems with it. The third spark plug that was thrown up was my final straw.

Anyhow, I just ditched the L for an 07 GT, and I love it. This is my third Mustang (98 GT, 97 Cobra), but my first S-197. So I'm looking for some guidance, things to look out for, known issues, etc.

As far as I can tell, its got an x pipe, flows, K&N (just filter) and maybe a shift kit. Its got nice crisp/snappy shifts, a bit different than other stangs I've driven.

Some minor issues I'm having are the Aux Line in jack doesn't seem to recognize my ipod (Shaker 1000), and the key fob does not open the trunk. Is there a button in the car to open it or is it key/key fob only?

Any opinions are welcomed. Thanks, and its good to be back on SVTP.

After owning my 2005 GT I could never find the truck button inside the car, and the only I know how to open the truck is either the key fob or manually with the key. I'm not sure about the ipod issue. My car has never given me any problems but I'm actually trying to sell mine for a 99/01 cobra. You should have bought mine! Anyways, good luck with the car.

It was a deal I couldn't pass up.

I may take the center console apart and check the wiring cause the power point in the armrest compartment doesn't work either.

I may install a trunk release button soon as well.

Thanks for the response.

Well, I took the center console out and sure enough, the power point and aux jack were unhooked. They both work flawlessly now.

The other issue with the key fob, well, after doing some research and digging around in the car, I realized its an after market alarm. So, I really have no idea how to get the trunk release button to work on the fob. Looks like I'll be installing the button in the car sooner than I thought. The joys of buying used, oh well.

Does it still have the factory remotes? If so you can disable the aftermarket alarm and hook those up and not have to go through the hassle of installing the button.

Congrats on your new GT! I have an 07 and I love mine. Only problem I have ever had was the alternator issues that seem to run rampant with the 05-09's. Good to see you found the issue with the aux jack. Mine has the 1000 shaker and hasn't had any problems thankfully. As for the trunk button, as you already know Ford decided not to put one in the car from the factory :cuss: but the kits on American muscle for ex seem to work well for others.

Mod list looks pretty solid, I am installing a Supercharger on mine in a few weeks, so if you want a Granatelli Cold Air intake, BBK 62 Twin MM Throttle body, TB Spacer, Steeda Underdrive pulleys or the flash chip for the intake just let me know I'll sell em to you.
My car put down 302 RWHP with just the CAI, flash chip and SLP loudmouth axle back exhaust. Never got a chance to run it again with the Throttle body, pulleys and spacer.

Anyways, I would love to see some pics of your GT, congrats again!

I wish it did. All I have is the aftermarket remotes. I wanted to program one of the remote keys from a focus. Not sure if the aftermarket stuff will cause problems though.

Thanks bud, I'll keep it in mind when I have some extra funds.

Sounds like you got an auto? Mine is as well, and they do shift pretty hard, but a tune is the best thing you can do for the tranny and take out that annoying torque control that makes the car hesitate a little. The regular mods are pretty good on these cars, intake, exhaust, tune work really well, so good luck and congrats on the s197, I like mine as well..
