Have 65" Sony X900 (same as the X90, the 90 are sams & costco versions). It's a fabulous TV.

Stop listening to the people throwing brands around. It's not about the brand, it's about the panel. It's like someone asking what car to buy and someone says, "Ford". Which Ford? GT or a Fiesta? The options vary wildly....same thing with TV's.

If you want the best quality picture you'll want an OLED or a QLED. LG for the OLED, Samsung for the QLED. OLED will have better contrast, darker blacks. QLED will be larger, cheaper, brighter, and have less burn in.

If you want something cheaper look at LCD or LED.

Do a search on the net on panel differences and leave this forum for car advise.

FWIW, I did get an LG 65 C9 for like $1400 new on ebay 2 years back.

There were a lot of warnings about warranty issues not covering a panel with burn in from a non-approved retailer, but after digging around a lot on various forums about OLEDs, it seems like it's more of a fear than a reality. So I went for it.

It's absolutely sublime and has ruined all other tvs for me.

I’ve had a Samsung 65 that I moved into my bedroom and put a 70” Vizio in my living room.

Have a 50” vizio in my garage as well.

Never had an issue with them. Want to say they get their display from the same manufacturer as Samsung.

OLED is the way to go if you're a plasma guy back in the day. Only thing that gets true black like those did. I think you can get a 65" LG CX around there 120hz HDR, Dolby, G-Sync (if your a gamer). I picked up a refurbished 55" CX for under $1000 from Microcenter. Quality is top notch. Paired it with a 3090 and doubles as a couch gaming screen and its nuts.

The CX has been replaced by the C1 I believe which didn't add much but dropped CX prices.

A lot of "LED" and quantum dot and stuff but all just LED back lit LCD, so LCD. LG OLED are literally individual LED pixels not back-lit. I think only Sony and LG have them and Sony uses LG displays.

Keep your eye open they drop in price now and then. If you can get a refurbished with factory warranty it's a good deal. I'm picky as shit and it was packed and looked new. Just saved a few hundred.

The land of commies and socialists!
I received an email last Nov. that OLED price has dropped.

I went into BestBuy and noticed they had an LG Nano open box for a great deal. I spoke with the sales person, and he convinced me Nano and OLED were about the same quality.

Well I got it home, installed and it totally sucked for Live TV. My old LED had a better picture.

I took it back and got the 77" LG OLED CX

Friggen LOVE it!! The price on Oled has dropped quite a bit.
I actually popped into BestBuy to see what they had between appointments.

Took a hard look at a LG Nano T.V. and noticed the soccer player jerseys got fuzzy around the names whenever the players moved fast. Definitely not going that route. Thanks.

I have an LG OLED 55" and love it. I saw a Samsung 75" QLED in Costco this afternoon ($2,600 or so) that blew me away. If I was in the market right now, I'd be seriously consider that Samsung I saw. I do understand that they use an optimal test broadcast to impress, but it certainly highlighted this tv's capabilities.

Yeah the screen saver kicks on if you fall asleep and it goes back to Netflix menu or something. Only time I'd worry about burn in is using it as a computer monitor with a static task bar or something.

I think it's just a myth at this point.

Also I agree. I have 32" Acer Predator gaming monitors that I used to think were nuts. Now they're kind of a let down minus the faster refresh rate. And that kind if refresh only matter for very limited gaming situations. Not much can push 4k over 120hz. New consoles say they can but it's really a lie 99% of the time they drop frames.

I’m actually shocked my Vizio is still going. I bought it as a Black Friday deal 9 years ago and it’s still going. It gets a lot of use too, my wife is a teacher so during the summer even if she’s doing stuff around the house the tv is normally running all day long.

In January of 2020 I bought a Samsung QLED 75 inch from Best Buy and love it. My wife is glad I talked her into the 75 inch verses the 65 inch.

Same to be honest minus the Black Friday deal. The tv runs a lot and is on constantly as well as I fall asleep watching it.

Hard for me to say Vizio isn’t good or doesn’t last as I’ve had this one running like a champ for close to a decade.

Glad I'm not the only one who does that lol. We have the TV on when we go to bed, I can't fall asleep in a silent room for whatever reason.

On topic these are some good suggestions in here I will be in the market for a new TV in a few months, still nothing wrong with the vizio I'll be retiring it to the bedroom I'm just ready for a 4k TV I know I'm missing out with 10 year old technology in this TV.

Thinking of waiting for black friday to see what pops up, anyone know if there is any truth to the "black friday TVs are made of cheaper parts" argument?

Just installed a 65" QLED 70A Samsung yesterday after my previous Samsung started to have issues with the backlight and the picture becoming darker and darker by the week.

I purchased this from Best Buy with free delivery and a $30 fee for haul away of the old unit. The total cost for everything + tax was $1194.

Sorry, double post.

Consumer Reports rates Sony & LG, 1 & 2.
LG makes the panels for Sony's OLED.
I bought a LG ( OLED65C9PUA ) in Nov. 2019, @ the time it was rated # 1 by several on line TV review sites. I shopped & waited till I saw a price I could live with, ( $ 1699 )

if it's a model made for black friday then yes, it will be cheaper but seems to vary in how they drop the price. Sometimes it's something stupid like not as many HDMI or USB inputs.

the last tv I bought from Costco on black Friday was a unit they usually carry throughout the year and was just a little cheaper than normal. I actually ended up with a smaller vizio vs the samsung or whatever else I was looking at because the samsung wasn't going to support upcoming changes in 4k and something else (basically obsolete when you bought it) whereas the vizio wouldnt natively support it but would at least display the content with a firmware update.
