I attended a track day with the GTO guys yesterday and there was an 02 Z28 there also. Now I never thought the LS1 cars were slow, but this thing flat out hauls @ss! It was completely stock auto car, except for headers and an MTI lid. On drag radials he was running consistent 12.8's at 109mph. That is pretty impressive in my book for an N/A basically stock car.

The GTOs were running:
04s - Fastest stock car ran 13.70's and the other 04s were around the 14.0-
14.5 range.
The fastest non-stock GTO (H/C/I/exhaust/drag radials) ran 12.81@108.
05s - I saw an auto car running 13.90's consistently. I think a stick car was
running 13.60's. The other 05s seemed to be running low 14s.

There were about 26 GTOs running. Nice cars, nice owners, REALLY nice interiors. It was cool to see how passionate those guys are about their cars.

Yes the ls1 camaro/firebird's are awesome motors. Just those few mods and they are hauling. I know a guy that put a stall on his 02 Z28 and he is running really strong.

That seems like a horrible time.. imo for those mods on a ls1 even if its a boat..

Thanks.. Thats me.

12.4 @ 110 (hot day)

12.5 @ 114 ( lid/headers) 50*

I love running cobras. Too bad it nitrous to keep up w/ them once they start modding. Ford did a great job w/ the 03+'s

I love racing them. I own them in the 1/8th but on the back half they start to catch up. Thank god the tracks only 1320 feet. ;) My wifes 01 (A4) went 13.4 with only a lid and meter on radials(non DR) Their stout. -Mark

If only there was an LS1/T56 platform car that didn't look like it just feel out of my butt I would own one. I respect them, but I still love my Cobra.

Just raced an LS1 down woodward this weekend. He beat me by a car length up to 85mph from a dig....damn good race!

I've got respect for the power potential for sure. I'm actually quite partial to the look of the Trans Am.
