Since I live in Louisiana....im gonna say New Orleans. With that said. I just took a friend of mine down there a couple of days ago to pick up an 05 gt and I had two pistols and a shot gun with me in my truck, so I think like Stampede3 said stay in the nice places and you should be fine. Remember anything crazy can happen anywhere now a days

hey I hear you man. I just thought it was funny ...check out NO...I was just there and I took two pistols and a shotgun....I pictured you showing up to buy the car with a pistol on each side and a shotgun slung on your back.

Totally forgot about Charleston, SC. Another place we stayed a few nights in and really loved.

I agree.

My GF are close enough to drive to San Antonio and have a blast every time. Walk the river and hit different bars and restaurants.

For a quiet little get away...the wife and I like to go to Rockport, TX...its a little sleepy town about 30 minutes north of Corpus Christi, TX....no one knows us and no one cares who we are...and if we want something to do we just drive into corpus and it has everything we're looking to do

I love New Orleans. Lived there for almost 20 years and would always visit before hand and still do to this day. Like anywher you travel anything can happen just be smart. San Antonio and Austin are two of my favorite cities to visit as well. Grand Rapids is another great place to check out.

My wife and I enjoyed New Orleans in 2012. Great food, people, and music but not much else. We didn't have a car so walking distances were our limit. We stayed at the historic Hotel Monteleone just off the quarter and I highly recommend that hotel.

I may go back someday, but I have a number of other spots I would enjoy seeing/doing first.

A couple others I have greatly enjoyed;
Fort Collins, CO (eating, shopping, and Estes Park)
Denver, CO (downtown baseball, mountains, and bars)
Pittsburgh, PA (baseball, bars, and yinz food)
Corpus Christi, TX (bay fishing with a guide and seafood)
Honolulu, HI (well, cuz)

Come down to San Antonio! There are all kinds of things to do, and there are a ton of great restaurants. IMO, it is much safer than NO. I've been there twice and live in San Antonio.

I'm about 40-45 min from New Orleans. We avoid that place like the plague.

If you have a carry permit. Carry. Everywhere.

Common thing people do/see is bars and food. My wife can cook good "cajun" foods and i think drinking at a bar is dumb so it's a no go for us.

My wife would love to go there if we could see some Darius Rucker. I hear he gets back together with Hootie for at least once benefit gig a year.

That's a pretty good time of year as the temperature will be out of the 100's. City Market and River St. are good but do stay with crowds... and don't go walking alone at night.

Most of New Orleans is a shithole, enjoy the day time life in the French Quarter and Canal St. area. Check out the National D-Day Museum, impossible to see everything in there in one day. Harrah's Casino is right there, just dont lose all your money, there is enough of that to worry about with pick pockets in the area and beggars. Bourbon St. is better during the day in my opinion, not because of less hammered drunk people, but there is actually room to move around.

That's how we do it now mostly.
Day trips and casino at night if we go anywhere.

I live 20 minutes from New Orleans and avoid it.

Here's a few places I go in New Orleans: Audubon Zoo, Aquarium, and Children's Hospital.

That's it...too much potato in the city.
