I've been browsing the forum for awhile and finally bought a 1996 Cobra mustang with only 12,000 miles on it. The car came with a CAI, 62mm throttle body, high flow cats, borla exhaust (assuming cat back), aluminum control arms (not sure if upper or lower or both), 4.10 gears, and some 285mm nitto 555 on tsw rims in the back with regular 245's in the front, and a short throw shifter. Anyway, I decided to take the car to the track this weekend with my dad. In short I'm really disappointed, best time with my dad driving was a 14.34 at 96 mph and a 2.06 60' (I know he was short shifting at about 6500). Best I was able to run was a 14.5 at 98 with a 2.3 60'. Now I'm not really worried about the times as that is more driver than car, but the trap speeds seem really low. It wasnt a great day probably 80 and i think it was 67% humidity (track elevation is 760 ft), but I'm curious as to if this seems normal. I checked the IMRC and it tugged when i revved it up to 3250 but that's about all I know. So basically is my car in dire need of a tune? (If so I've read good things about Tim Barth?) Or is something wrong? I have all the original parts (minus exhaust and control arms) for the car so if it is recommended to change the throttle body I will. Thanks in advance!
