Roughly two months ago my younger brother moved in and we instantly started working on his Mini Cooper S as it had what we believed to have a blown head gasket. During the process we found multiple issues with the car and are still in the process of getting it fixed. Since his car is down our mother loaned him our now deceased grandfathers truck to get to and from work.
My brother has been parking the truck at the end of the street that dead ends to a field with houses on each side. A week ago when he came home from work he over heard the neighbors on the side where the truck is parked say "That damn truck parked next to our house again, what are we going to do about it?". A few days later they laid out palm fronds on the street in an attempt to keep him from parking in that spot.
At this point I was waiting for a knock on the door or some other escalation of the issue. Well that happened last night when the cops were called shortly after my brother came home. My brother and I were standing outside talking last night when a sheriff deputy drove past us to the dead end where the truck is parked. He lit up the area with a spot light and proceeded to check the truck and field. After he looked around for a few minutes I could hear the ghetto bird overhead which did a quick orbit around the area and left (probably looking in the field with his FLIR). Just as the helicopter was leaving another deputy showed up, again they both looked at the truck and field then proceeded to talk back and forth.
My brother and I were tempted to walk to the end of the street and talk to them but weren't exactly sure what they were after so we decided to stay out of the situation. After five or so minutes the officers turned their cars around and drove back down our street with the lead car stopping to talk to us and asked if we knew whose truck that was. Shocked I said it was our mothers and on loan to my brother tell his POS Mini was fixed. The deputy then got out of the car and asked us where we lived. I explained to him that I am the homeowner of the house behind where we were standing. He looked kind of puzzled and asked for my drivers license to verify I actually lived there.
The deputy proceeded to tell us that "someone" had made a call claiming that the truck was seen creeping through the neighborhood and was now parked "right here at the end of the street with two guys sitting in it" and it looked suspicious. I actually laughed out loud at this point and told the deputy that it was total BS. We ended up talking the issue over for a few minutes and they left looking slightly annoyed.
Now this is where I got extremely pissed off. I wasn't mad because law enforcement was called but rather the fact that these idiots were willing to fabricate a story to get the sheriff out there and inconvenience them with some BS like this. These guys have much more important things to worry about than a stupid truck parked next to someone house on a public street. Do these morons actually think that the cops were going to do something to a legally parked truck on the side of their house when they know where the person who parks it there lives?
I have been kicking around ideas all day on how to deal with these idiot with some serious and some just flat out funny but I would like to see what some of you guys think I should do. I doubt this situation will just go away but I wont be upset if it just dies.
What do you guys suggest?
