I'd get the diesel because they are large trucks and the fuel mileage isn't great but its still twice what a gas truck that size would be and it can tow anything you want it to

I've always liked the Tacomas.
What's your goal for the truck?
It looks like you're trying to get a truck that's fast, can tow, gets great mpg, has a ton of power, is cheap, etc lol

I thought the Dodge was pretty clean but when I saw it was a diesel this shouldn't be a question, get the diesel.

I would add another con to the Dakota...transmission will kick the bucket sooner or later. I almost bought an 03 with an 8" lift and the 4.7, it was an awesome truck but I couldn't get the thought of replacing (or at least rebuilding) the trans out of my mind as it stalled every time I came to a stop when I test drove it...

Cummins ftw. Not much more to know, great tq, good mpg (15-17mpg), and just a tune, air filter, exhaust away from 500+rwtq. They are also very affordable nowadays - You can get a '00 Ram 2500 for around $6k

If it were me I'd be looking for a 99-02 F250/F350 7.3 Diesel or a 00+ Dodge Cummins.

You will get better fuel economy than the gassers on your list that actually have the ability to pull. (I'd NEVER use a 4 cyl to pull ANYTHING) Diesels call pull all day every day. Diesels can be modded for not much $.
