If I only put 6 qts in, the oil is sitting at the very bottom of the MIN line on the dip stick so I always put in about 7. :rolling:

Given that the engine of a Y-block design, with the crank centerline well above the oil pan rail, and it is also equipped with a windage tray, slightly overfilling the engine will not adversely affect ANYTHING. You have neither the rope effect of oil being flung off the crankshaft, nor do you have to worry about the rear main seal sitting in oil.

The consequences of too little oil far outweigh the consequences of too much.

The pan itself holds NINE quarts.

I cant search for the thread on here, but these pics posted on another forum may help the chicken littles out there to realize the sky does not fall if you run more than 6 quarts....

The guy that posted those pictures has a 01 COBRA. Is the pan in our 03/04 COBRA's the same exact oil pan... ?

For some reason I thought ours was a tad deaper.

The oil pan for the 99-03 Cobras have the same Ford part number. The 04 Cobra has a different one. There isn't any evidence to suggest that the 04s oil pan is any different in regards to its capacity.

Everyone knows that the 2004 oil pan adds an additional 30 rwhp. :)
