Special moment for me as my 16-yo son corners my car hard enough to get air under the tire. His mom and I autocrossed the shit out of this car for years before he was born and look at him go.
Thing is, he asked me recently if there was a safe place to practice car control, and I said yes, yes there is. So Saturday I took him to an autocross where he drove my SS Sedan in competition and I drove my ‘92 Mustang, then we swapped cars for time-only runs. If I had entered the SS in competition I would have placed 1st in CAM-C ahead of two S550 Mustang GT’s. Meanwhile he hopped into the Mustang and proclaimed the SS is NOT an autocross car. He could really feel the 900-lb difference in weight. Gotta say, it was weird sitting at the starting line like that, getting ready to do something I used to do every weekend in this same car, but haven't done in probably 15 years. Great fun.
