Well here's a quick back story. I sold my Lightning around a month ago and I was searching for a new car. Found a local car that was fully built with all the goodies and a 2.2 Kenne bell. I was about 99% sure I would get it but I decided I wanted one that I knew quite a bit more about. Sure, the other car was fully built but I didn't know exactly all of the history. So I found my car, a 04 Redfire coupe in Chicago. It had 22,000 miles (23200 now after driving it home), and a 2.3 Whipple, Bob Kurgan tuned and all the supporting mods I needed. I saw it listed on another site and pretty much took a gamble on the car. Pictures definately did not do the redfire paint justice. I've seen the color in person multiple times, and I was kind of turned off by the black wheels. But the car exceeded my expectations when I saw it in person.
Saturday I flew to Chicago from my home in Odessa, Tx and after taking a horrible cab ride to the suburbs I was in the car and started my journey. I stayed overnight in St. Louis and got up at 5, and drove home Sunday morning. 1,200 miles and 20 hours of driving and I got home. Probably could have trailered the car all the way, however I wanted to see the country. I am usually too busy to travel except once a year.
Car drove like a champ and I averaged 23 miles per gallon. Today I spent some time and washed and detailed it. I used the Meguiars show car glaze and ultimate liquid wax on the car. Brought out some orange in the paint I did not notice driving back. Anyways, can't wait to get the TX plates and inspection and drive this thing. There are a lot of idiots in work trucks where I live, so I probably won't get as much driving out of the car as I want, but I can already tell I am going to love the car.
:burnout:
