Found a nice 00R fairly local.
Fair price, but not great.
Ready to go ahead and buy.

Then I said, "Let's talk about the R specific paperwork, whats included?"

"What paperwork", was the reply. I explained the items I needed.

Number plate
Black book
SVT Cert.
Window sticker
Black binder card
Black owners manual insert

There was only a title and SVT certificate.

Damn, damn, damn.... :fm:

I explained those irreplaceable 00R items have a sizable value to me as a buyer and if I ever want to sell. It was clear he was confused and annoyed and this transaction wasn't going to happen.

I went on to tell him if I had to place a dollar value on the missing items it would be s follows:

Number plate $1500 irreplaceable
Black book $1000 (maybe I could buy on the secondary market)
Window sticker $500 irreplaceable
Black binder card $200 (maybe I could buy on the secondary market)
Black owners manual insert $200 (maybe I could buy on the secondary market)

He wasn't willing to budge on price (minus $3K) and at this point he was a little pissy.

This seems too common with these cars being passed around like baseball cards.

Still shopping.

The values you quoted are the exact reason that these items are missing. Even if it was half of that, but what value do you put on a "one time/exclusive item" that is specific to that car?

Some previous buyers weren't even aware of these valuable items when they bought the car and now that the car is most likely worth less (in some cases a lot less), they won't budge on the price, even without this valuable paperwork.

Did you ask the owner about the $2K deduction if the fuel cell is past due?

Wow!! the $3K you mentioned, plus a $2K Fuel Safe bill..............that's -$5K!!

Contact him and get him to contact Ford Racing. They ended up with a number of left-over 2000 R owner kits including the dash plaque. In fact, if you have the VIN you could call them yourself and see if they have it. They won't send to you without proof of ownership, but they might confirm it has never been claimed.

Yep, already done.

He was able to get the SVT cert reprinted but nothing else could be done. He was told they don't reprint window stickers after 5 years and the remaining 00R stuff was all long gone.

IMO, the car is just too incomplete for my taste. Paperwork matters.

Yep. That's what I was talking about.

He was puzzled why I was looking to discuss a much lower price. Those items didn't seem important to him but hold a significant value to me.

Still looking.

Want to spend around 40 for a nice, documented car.

I would seriously look into Morrison Motors. It looks like a well documented car. Cash talks and an offer in the high 30's could take it home.
Morrison Motor Company
Good luck John, too bad the weather is turning; these cars are fun on Sunny Days!

Thanks, Gary.

I've spoken with them. They're firm at 42 and with those miles they're many thousand too high.

This has certainly been a strange search so far.

Plus the paint on the Morrison car needs some serious work, like wet sanding and buffing. Lots of fine scratches and acid rain spots.

There is a new black binder and plate on e-bay right now. It belongs to 2000r #183. Don't know if this is the car you were looking into. I wonder if the guy that own's #183 knows his binder is up for sale? Here's the link on e-bay.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Garlin

Looks like it ended early. Bummer. I was watching and very interested in the final numbers. I bet that would have been an interesting/ action packed final few auction minutes.

Let's hope it found it's was back to #183.
