Hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg to get one!
In the article it said from 5,000 to 10,000 not a bad deal considering a server would cost about the same prices and its brand new technology.

Yeah, I'm just hoping in a few years you can just head to best buy and pick one up for like 1k from hp or something... so that any body could afford one in their house.... Imagine, wrenching on your car and if something pops up and you need a question answered... You can just go over to your new table top comp and doing a search on here.

I just saw today sony made a prototype of a small tv that is just basically a small screen (like 3x3 inches) that you can roll up and slip into your pocket.

"I will always love technology" hahaha

That's mighty impressive really. Just looking back at how computers have changed our lives in the past ten years blows me away.

I remember being in computer class in the early 1980s. I got into a huge arugument with our teacher. He told me the future of computers was programming - spending weeks programming a computer to draw a basic design of a house on a screen. I told him we would all be running software. I remember loading up a small utility program from Microsoft - a version of scan disk.

I remember writing a small word processing program - in basic. Man, I wish I had pursued it then. I'd be a billionaire now.

wow, i have no doubt that this is gonna change the world the same way the computer did back in its infant days. this is something that every house will have. i bet the computer(as we know it) will still be around for buisnesses(cant see doing spreadsheets on this surface computer) and hardcore gamers(i dont see any of the counterstrike users looking forward to counterstrike: surface edition) but this will pretty much replace all the other uses a computer has. look at videos/pictures, listen to music, browse the web, send e-mail, edit blogs, i dont see the desktop computer standing a chance to this in those arenas. hell, who knows, this could be the next huge flop, but it wont be because its a terrible concept, thats for sure.

If they make this into a clear backed LCD platform similar to what's seen in The Matrix they've got something.

Remember, you still have to work too, so a keyboard will always be required.

Touch screens work as keyboards... I know some are more touchy than others, but I'm sure by the time this hits the market, the accuracy and speed at which you could type on one would be greatly improved. If not, there's always usb with wireless keyboard!

They would probably have a touch screen keyboard that you can bring up (like a window)

Seems like a cool technology, i bet it would be amazing in schools and in the work place.

Drag and drop with your hands would be an awesome idea.

Remember the police station in "Minority Report"? Exactly the same thing. Pretty cool. I can't wait til stuff from "I, Robot" becomes a reality.

That might or might not work. I know for a fact working without a tactile keyboard is too much of a challenge for everyday work. A touch screen keyboard is OK for basic things however.

I thought the whole resturant thing was cool too. It gives you info on the food you're eating and allows you to split up you bill by dragging what you want to pat for. This things awesome.
