I am looking for a tire for my 18x10 street setup. This tire WILL be strictly street driven but sparingly and will not see rain. I currently have a 305/40/18 nt555r on the car, tread life is great but traction under 40mph even on a hot day is iffy at best.

The two tires I have narrowed it down to are the Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S 305/40/18 and the M&H Racemaster 325/40/18. Both are about 28" and I can get them for about the same price.

The car is a Paxton auto, 3.15 gear, 4C converter, 630/540 at the wheel with a torque booster. I will be adding a bit more power soon as well.

Which tire will hook the best on the street?

I love my M&H's. Great tire and hook on the street with my TT car @ 9.5 psi. 750 RWHP.

I had the NT-05R's and they wouldn't hook 6.5 from 2nd in my auto.

Can you hook from a dig with the m&h? What size do you have, and how many miles are you getting out of them? I can deal with 5k or so but not one that wears out in under 1k miles.

Friend of mine ran the MT SS 305/40-18 with a Whipple and 2C converter. Did not last very long. He took them to the track 4-5 times. My car will spin 305/45-18 555Rs at 50mph. I guess if you don't track your car either will last 4-5,000 miles on the street. Burn outs at the track really eat up tires. I would vote for the M&H. IMO you are better off going 15" for street and track. Tires are way less expensive. 18" M&H $377 at Summit vs $209 for a 295/55-15 MT SS.

325/40/18 M&H is what we run and i have a set with over 8,000 miles and who know's how many passes. They were on my 07 boosted 500 hp car for 5,000 miles and i could launch it on the street at 5,000 rpm and it would hook. Granted it was set up for the street. Now they are on my 625 hp to the tires 13' tvs 5.0 and it spins maby 5ft on a unprepped road. It's set up for the street also. I just bought a set of 275 m/t pros to try and i cannot tell much of a difference on the street. The M&H's don't like a lot of tire smoke. As soon as they smoke for a burnout i pull forward. We also run the 275 M&H on some trucks with no issues and they work better than a M/T. That is what lead me to try them on the car.

I can hook from a dig. I have the 275/60/15's. Don't have too many miles on them yet but they have been great so far.
