I don't know what it is about this car, but it just does not move my needle at all. And I'm a big fan of McLaren's cars. The 720S just doesn't do it for me.
At first glance, that car is not appealing to me. If I had the bucks to buy an exotic, it would be from the multitude of other choices that are available today.
"Regular" guy opinions of it after driving it. They all have the requisite respect for what the car is and its performance, but none of them are enamored by it. There's just a disconnect between the car and the driver's emotion. I remember their MP4-12C was the same way when it came out; fantastic car that just didn't capture the driver's heart. I'll never get to drive a McLaren, but I still get that disconnected vibe from the 720S.
Not sure on it's comparison to cars of the same $ and perfomance level but I think that car is beautiful. The interior however looks cheap to me for that money.
I think technology has gotten so many of these cars to the point where drivers feel disconnected. You have all these electronics that stop you from killing yourself, not making you a better driver.
I feel like most of us on this site like a car that seems like it may want to try and kill you if you are not paying attention.
For me I love the feel of a cable operated throttle and clutch.
I loved the P1 styling. Its up there near the top of my all time best looking cars. This doesn't do it for me. Would love to drive one, but this probably wouldn't be the car I would buy if I had that kind of money.
