Lot of Marines seem unhappy with how it is going. You can almost see the scenario where they get dropped into the shit storm that needs tanks and snipers and the "relearn" a hard lesson or 2.

I really scratched my head at this one. Will they call in army sniper support? Seals will be too busy to steal their sniper trained guys.

Something tells me units will keep long guns and just make long range marksmanship a part of unit training.

Ukrainians started out like that. Cooks became killers, racking and stacking up russians like cord wood.

From my experience they won’t be eliminated entirely. However you more than likely will not have a scout sniper plt with the weapons company to support the BN. In reality a lot of those platoons have very few qualified school trained snipers, most of them are what the call PIG’s, these are 0311’s that shoot really well on the range and have sound basic stalking skills. Basically OJT. Most of them never make it to school or through school.

I think you stated it correctly but I may be reading it wrong so forgive me. Snipers who have gone to school and have the MOS of Scout Sniper are considered Hogs. The grunts that get selected and pulled from infantry platoons and go to the sniper platoon and do the OJT are pigs and will be pigs until they go to school and actually gain the MOS of SS.

You would be correct good sir! Like I said I don’t think they will go away entirely though. Your see more of them in the MARSOC units though.
