I was bored during my shopping spree yesterday and decided to look at different items throught the stores I went to for the "made in the USA" label and couldnt find any. I did find a couple of Mexico, Taiwan, India and some other wierd locals. Most of the stuff was made in china (shock) and to be fair to the story, I did go to walmart, toys r us and the local mall just to name a few. Point is, I can't remember the last time I saw a made in the USA label on anything except an edelbrock intake a buddy of mine bought last year. Please tell me there are at least a few items still made in America that aren't cars or food items. Pics would be cool if you had them.

Makes you wonder what would happen if china decided to not export anything to the USA.

The same thing is beginning to happen in Japan. It's much cheaper to build something in China and ship it back to Japan, then actually make it their. BTW my 2007 Yamaha R6S has made in China all over it. If I wanted a damn Chineese bike, I would've bought one. This was my fault for not checking before the purchase.:mj:

Forged is also in China now and Russia.

Lets not for get India - if prices go to high in China look for India to make a push -- its termed now Global economics.

If I were to have a pure big business made for profit it would be the following:
1. Made in China
2. Call center in India or Indonesia
3. Financed in Japan
4. Technology from Europe or USA

Damn - Mexico and Canada really get it!! And I always wondered, what does S.America do or make except fruit or sugar?

The Fikse wheels and the Goodyear tires on my 01 Cobra are made in the USA and the Vortech blower That will be installed on the Cobra is also made in USA. Tool wise, A lot of good hand tools like Snap on are still made in USA and when it comes to high end bicycles, the Serrotta and Seven brands are custom manufactured by hand in USA.

In the city I live in we make:
Glade, Zip Lock Bags, Gladware, Windex and Many many othe cleaning chemicals from Johnsons Wax

Case and New Holland large farm tractors

In Sink Erator garbage disposals

Modine radiators and heat exchangers

Twin Disk builds huge marine and military transmissions

Bombardier builds Evinrude and Johnson marine engines

Thermal Transfer builds heavy duty marine oil coolers

Andis makes hair clippers

Kastar builds Snap on and other ratcheting wrenches and other specialty tools

And many many other smaller businesses that make all kinds of products serving automotive and manufacturing customers.
Our community used to have many other large businesses that produced huge amounts of consumer goods, from malt makers, dremel tools and cots to snow blowers, machine tools and greens mowers, those companies have since folded or moved to lower cost labor markets.

A few years ago I went 2 years buying nothing, I mean nothing but goods made in Canada. Pissed my wife off so much, lol. Its now almost impossible unless you seek out all the local artesians and keep a record of where to buy stuff.

Specialty electronics, musical gear, outdoor clothing and tons of clothes are still made in Canada. My Prospector dress shoes that I still basically live in were made in Canada. They "had" a lifetime warranty on the soles untill Columbia bought them out closed down the factory and resumed production in China. Ive been wearing them sine 1999 and they still look great.

I still look for made in Canada, US, Japan as much as possible.

And BTW the Made in the USA sticker is kind of a joke when a lot of the textiles were made in Saipan which gives China and India a run for thier money with human rights violations.

Even Penn Reels have sold out. I still love my Penns. You have too look on the underside of the real to see if it has a USA mold mark or a made in china sticker.
