Ive been looking around at different V10s. Trying to learn more about the only Ford gas engine I havent dealt with.

Im looking at trying to eliminate the balance shaft the V10 has. I read on an answer forum with a Ford tech that it could be eliminated with a certain crank and harmonic balancer. He said it cost about 1500 dollars and gave no more info after that.

Anyone have anymore information about this?

There seems to be some confusion on the exact location of the balace shaft. Ive read alot of people say its in the head. But knowing a OHC design takes alot of space Im not sure how Ford would fit it in a 2V, let alone a 3V.

So is it in the block or just the driver side head?

It's not a lot of mass. What are you thinking of doing?

Custom 4 Valve V10 Sleeved to 447 cid, 4.0L Whipple, modifiy all the 03 Cobra stuff to work on it. Custom cams to exceed over .550 total lift, you get the idea. In a stripped New Edge Mustang.

It's alittle over the top but possible. But in order to have 4 valve heads work I have to get rid of the shaft in the head
