largest tire i can fit on stock SVT wheels

im going to be putting in 4.10 gears real soon and my tire size currently is 255's and it just doesnt look great with eibach lowering springs its to much wheel gap for my taste. i want to know whats the largest tire size i can fit on the stock chrome svt wheels, 315's i highly dout but i would be fine with say 275's? cant afford new wheels atm so cannot upgrade.

Stock 99/01 cobra wheel or stock terminator wheel
I ran a 275/40/17 on my stock 99 cobra wheels which are 17x8 anything bigger will bulge too much
Stock terminator wheels are 17x9 I have heard and seen a 315/35/17

Pretty much what he said. I ran Nitto 555R's in 275 on stock 01 wheels for awhile.

i know 275 are a little wider than my 255's but are they taller as well?

Depends on the brand of tire really.
With Nittos, you could probably get away with a 285 or maybe even a 295.
Yes, when you get a wider tire and keep the same aspect ratio, the wider tire will be taller.

What width tires you can get a way with and what are safe and the widest recommended is a different story. Anything over 255 is not recommended for 8 inch wheels. Most people with stock wheels have taken care of the rear gap issue with 1" spacers (like I did) And here is a tire size calculator that might help.----------------- http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator

I have a 2004 Cobra with the stock wheels. I have a staggered fit with 275 up front and 315 out back. The tires are Nitto NT01. I've heard that the Nittos tend to fit better; possibly a flatter side wall. Mine fit fine, and tires are grippy as you can get on a Cobra.

My comment above, I'll have to check and make sure again which NT number I have. I know I have 01 and 05, but my street tires might be 555. I'll let you know and I'll grab you a picture. I've run 275s all around while open tracking, and they run perfect. They come off the track melted.

i thought the terminator stock wheels were 17x9 and 99/01 17x8?

You're right. The 04 Cobra has 17 x 9, and yours has 17 x 8. Sorry for the confusion. You should be able to fit 17 x 9 with no problem. Then again, you lowered it, so best measure before you buy. Now, on a different subject, slightly, how do I upload the pics I took? I tried the camera and gallery icons before, but no
go.
