I am beginning to mod my car and of course the axle back has to go. I am in between the kooks axle back and the GT500 they will going on in conjunction with a jba off road x pipe. I really like the deep modern muscle sound of the kook's but I also like the lopey sound and tone of the GT500's I plan to keep the resonators to reduce drone . Which ones would you guys get or have ? To those with these mufflers what are the pros and cons? Thanks in advance .

I had the 12 GT500s at first and switched to the kooks...
I like the deep tone of the kooks. There was zero drone with the GT500 w/o resonators ...kooks had no drone until I removed the resonators. Its only at 1700-2000 but it is there.

Im hoping that when I switch to the shorty headers the drone goes away.
Im running the Max Flow catted H-Pipe from MRT.

Had both. The GT500s sound good but the Kooks are a lot deeper and lighter. I still have cats but have an ORx waiting to go on. Here is pic difference. NO drone with either with cats.

I love my gt500"s.....quiet at part throttle but sound mean when u get on it. I have zero drone but still have the resonators. I heard a set of kooks though and they sound great. Try YouTube you can hear both in different settings.

How loud are kooks compared to 12 GT500s?

About the same loudness but different tone and the kooks are lighter and nicer. Kooks have more of a hollowed out deep tone IMO . My brother has them on his 5.0 and I've had the GT500'S

I got the kooks with stock exhaust. Sound really good. At first I thought I had drone but it was just me. Can't wait to do the lethal o/r x pipe

i went with gt500's because of the price, and the fact that they arent obnoxiously loud. PLus i planned on going with headers down the line and i heard a 5.0 with full exhaust and loved the tone. would have been nice to save the weight and i do like the sound of the cooks but i coudnt justify the cost difference between the gt500's and some of the aftermarket pieces out there.

I really wanna get the Kooks but I'm hearing that there is a little drone, I'm sure while much much less drone than my American Thunders, I don't wanna spend that kind of money on axle backs and regret it due to drone
