I'm taking off my borla stingers in favor of a 3" bassani catback. My current set up is polished and I love the look but it does require upkeep and it's a pain in the ass to get it polished. So I'm looking into a jet hot or similar coating for the tailpipes. Has anyone gone this route? The cost isnt too bad, was quoted $260 for their polished sterling coating. Another thing that makes this a good option for me is this catback came off a parts car I had and isnt is the best shape finish wise. Coating it would help hide some of the imperfection .
Thoughts? Or if you have pics that would be great too. Thanks

I looked into having my pipes coated. I was told the coating is thin and will show the imperfections. So you'll need to do some cleaning before getting them coated.

We had this done on my brothers 03 cobras IRS pipes, it looked, but still not as good as polished pipes. I'll see if I can find the old pictures of them done.

Well that's not what I wanted to hear. I'll have to wait and talk to them tomorrow and see what they have to say. Thanks

The land of commies and socialists!
If you go with jet hot be prepared to pay $$$ even for just exhaust tips. I recently got a quote from them for my factory exhaust logs (no LT because I have smog requirements) and the price plus shipping put me well past a set of JBA's or BKK shorties.

I did their online quote last night and got $260 for 10' of 3" pipe. I'm sending pics of the parts today to have them verify.
I have a local polisher that I am going to see what he charges.
Or depending on price I may just do it myself again

I had my Bassani rear pipes ceramic coated by a local coating company about 3 years ago now. The finish has held up awesome, and upkeep is as simple as wiping them off with a damp towel. Cost was $275.

Those look awesome! Thanks for the reply. Do you happen to know what brand stuff they use? I have a few powder companies around here I can get with.
Thanks

Yeah, those pipes look really, really good. Better than I honestly expected. I can see why starting with unblemished pipes can make a big difference.

Thank you! I honestly do not know what brand they use. Their website lists a "high luster silver 1600 degree" coating. That is the one I had them do. Here is a link Ceramic Coating | QCCOATINGS.com

Thanks! I actually purchased the system used with like 30k miles on it, and had the coating done before I put the system on. They sandblasted the pipes before coating and what not to clean the pipes up. There was remains of a plastic bag burned on those when I got them. They cleaned up real nice. Obviously if you are under the car looking at them, you can tell its not 100% as mirror as polishing would be, but you really cannot tell any difference when you're standing behind the car, or taking a knee behind the car. They are every bit of 95% of what polishing would be, without the upkeep involved.
