What show is this from?? I love James May

He is a pilot himself so I cannot imagine how special that must have been.

The whole rock-band hippy-liberal thing is a cover for one of the west's most effective long-term field espionage operations. They can go anywhere, meet anyone, get away with any outrageous behaviour to cover up their field work.

The airplane was just the icing on the cake, not many know it but Bono was in on the original flight test program of the U2. There are pics of him chumming around with Kelly Johnson and Ben Rich and all the Skunkworks gang.

Why does U2 have a spy plane?

They used to use 5.0's.

Its from a series he did for the BBC about the 40th anny of the moonwalk.

They are called:

James May On the Moon where he does the whole NASA thing.

and

James May on the Edge of Space where he did the whole U2 Flight. Both are available on www.finalgear.com

Wow, that's an outstanding video, just beautiful - thanks for sharing.

Noticed that they were indicating 104 knots airspeed up there in the thin air, pretty crazy - so they're not too far from the stalling speed in cruise flight, but they're probably at around mach .85.

The people that fly those things are amazing.... Talk about a tricky aircraft to land.
Heh, speaking of tricky to land, here's a video of various pilots trying to land it. I like the song, fits well.
