Most of the engines are letting go due to poor tuning IMO. A few are making more power than the rods can handle and they come out the block. If you want to run forced induction put good rods and pistons in it first.
The strategy in these ECU's has the ability to protect the engine from damage in many ways but if the limits in the cal are opened up or turned off then all bets are off.
Find yourself someone who is very knowledgeable at tuning, ask lots of questions, tune it SAFE - keep the last 20 hp on the table, and your engine will generally live a happy life.
