Is there a correlation between which team built the engine and the amount of power that it is putting out to the wheels?. I never put mine on a dyno, but thought it was on the higher side. I base this on other 400 horsepower cars I have driven. Any thoughts?

personally, I think the differences we see have more to do with variances between the Eatons than the engines, although tolerances do sometimes stack up in the most beneficial way to create a "strong one"

because the castings are not 100% identical to start with, that is why some Eatons gain more than others when they're ported....

all they did was put the parts togather...

it's not like they hand fit everything...

sorry but there is no correlation

I would hope not. I would think they have tolerance standards to meet on all parts. Build am sure has its specs too

I saw a 2001 Cobra put down 310 horsepower to the wheels on a Mustang Dyno with no mods. That engine is obviously a monster for some reason, and you can't attribute that variance to the Eaton. Whether it correlates with the builders is unclear.

This would be easy enough to answer. Have everyone who has had a baseline dyno using the same type of dyno list their numbers and builders. We could then do an analysis of variance to assess whether there are any statistically significant differences between the build teams.

It corrrelates to the Dyno specs and setup.

Granted. Trusting any Dyno is dubious. Dyno specs and setup are a potential source of error variance.

from what ive read, the "hand-built" means the techs fitted the car with the front engine accessories, fuel-rails, etc. they do not torque heads, install main bearings, or cams, etc. the long block is already assembled on the main robot production line

(now i think the 00 cobra r was a slightly different story; the oil pan, headers, intake, etc were hand-installed)

our club had a tour of the Romeo facility a few months ago and we personally saw them building the engines on the Niche Line...stuffing pistons, etc

hand-assembled, starting with a bare block

you're welcome!

it was very cool and the builders were all nice folks who were excited to speak with us

they get tours from car clubs but this was the first time they had Terminator owners there

for anyone who'd like to get a t-shirt signed by their builders there's contact info at the end of this thread...nice merchandise and the profits go to local charities...make sure you tell Charlotte that the MCT sent ya!
